I have what looks like delamination of the clearcoat around the driver's side rear window. Looks like a peeling sunburn. The paint seems fine, just looks like the clearcoat is peeling off. Is there a repair/sealant of some sort? Or is it a trip to Earl Sheib?
Does Earl still have those $69 deals of the 70's? As I recall only one color per day of the week. Guess that would be $699 today. Seriouly, buff it out with some rubbing compound and see if it improves (start on an inconspicuous ((had to spell check that one)) part)

I had the beginnings of the same problem with my Mark VIII and I took it to a friend's shop where he prepped the spot(s) and the whole car and applied a fresh polyurethane clear coat, that was 11 years ago and my paint still looks beautiful. A good shop and the good poly and you do not have to paint the whole truck a fresh color. It will look like new for many years to come.
Sounds like it needs prepped and re-cleared. Probably wouldnt go to Earl unless you're selling it. lol Cant polish out peeling and the peeled area will fade faster. Get a couple estimates and a good warranty.
