ok so i have a 6.9 with a turbo from a newer powerstroke 7.3 and for some reason my down pipe falls off when the turbo spools up pretty high...i have a muffler and a 3.5in exhaust and i was wondering if i have to much back pressure and its causeing it to pullout...also ive noticed that i push out more white smoke not really a blue smoke like an oil burn but really white and when shes a bit hot it pushs the soot...any thoughts about my little girl and her problems
only cold and when i jump on it...i have no idea next paycheck im picking up a bost gauge...the turbo runs pretty good man no complaints except for my downpipe problem
Are you sure it is a stroke turbo? The down pipe attaches with a v clamp, so I dont see how it could come off, unless the flange is gone from the down pipe. The factory turbo, or the ATS with the 3 inch elbo upgrade is a slip joint downpipe, that is held in by a bracket from the down pipe to the exhaust manifold.
Maybe thats what it is the ats turbo...p.o told me it was a stroke turbo and i figured he was right because my engine never came with a turbo...sry turbos and diesels are all new to me
ATS, Banks and HyperMax made turbo's for the IDI. Late 93 into 94, factory installed ATS turbo with a smaller outlet and crappy down pipe. Later 94, first year for the PowerStroke.
I know for sure the 088 ATS turbo had a spring that was supposed to hold exhaust down pipe tight, it didn't work very well. Later was the slip joint and bracket setup.
