I just bought a new fuel tank selector valve for my 87 F350 and went to replace it and the fuel lines on the new valve come out of the top and bottom. The old one has two that come off the end and the fuel lines connect straight to it. I need the angled fuel connectors to connect to the top of the new valve. Can I replace the connectors with new angled connectors or will I have to replace the whole fuel lines?
to do it right you will have to get the whole fuel line, but when i changed mine i ran rubber line from tank sender to male barb connector in pex line. hope this helps.
Finally getting around to swaping it out, I'm planing on just replacing the fuel lines. No problem from tank sendor to selector valve but from selector valve forward not sure what to do. The existing plastic line goes into a larger fuel line. Can I buy the pieces to transition to the larger lines?
Another question, I bought the selector valve at Rock Auto and it also doesn't have the quick connect mail connectors so I would have to replace the lines any how. Can I buy a new selector valve at the dealership that would be an exact match as the factory valve with the quick connect and in the right location?
yes you can.however its very expensive and not worth the money.
this thread has all the info you'll need: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...el-gauges.html
don't be too concerned about using stock fuel lines.the fuel system is all low pressure.make whatever you need to work, and it's just as good as the day it rolled off the plant.
Awsome thread, thanks for pointing me to it!! I didn't know you could cut the existing fuel lines and strip them back and they were rubber inside. That takes all my worries away and the wiring diagram helps big time also. I probably would have wired it backwords. Thanks again!!!

I'm nut sure on the rubber inside part. They newer trucks maybe, but my 88 has nylon lines coming from the tanks to the selector and from the selector part way up the frame where it transitions to metal. The only rubber section is from the metal line to the fuel pump, and the return lines on the engine itself.
So check what you have first, it might be a little different, and require a different strategy to connect the lines.
Yes I should have known that, I've worked with the nylon lines before. Don't know what I was thinking. Just picked up the unions and rubber fuel line to hopefully make this work.
I got it done, what a pain. It's hard working with the nylon lines. Does anyone have any tips for working with the nylon fuel lines?
The instructions on a splice kit I had bought said to heat the nylon lines in hot water to soften them. I tried that and all it did was make it too hot to hold. Fired up the heat gun on low and carefully warmed the ends and they slid right onto the unions.
What do you need the size change for? Fuel supply line should be 3/8, return 5/16. If 1/4 is used, that would be on the return lines at the injectors. They should have adapters for whatever your heart desires if you look in the right places. Try Granger or McMaster Carr. Your local hardware store (or bigbox hardware store) might have them as well in the plumbing section, though it might not have any reference to fuel use on the package.
