Hey guys, i done a search, and didnt come up with much unless i missed it. I have a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII with a low mile 4.6L DOHC mod motor it that i never drive. I also have a 1972 Ford F-100 that was my first vehicle, and my question is has anyone have much info on what i would need to do to swap the motors. I know i need to swap over the harness, new tank, fuel pump, plum the lines for the tank all that, but my questions mainly are will the engine bolt in, or does anyone make a swap kit? lastly will the C6 thats in my truck bolt to the 4.6? some say yes some say no. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks everyone
Chris, It has been done, you will need to bring the complete engine/tranny exhaust with sensors together to the truck. I have a bud in Raleigh NC that has done it. Shoot me an email through my user and I will connect you up with him if you want.
I'll agree it may not be the optimal swap but it would be the easiest, and most likely the cheapest. Especially once the nickeling and diming turns to quaters.
The early 4.6s were a standard Windsor/smallblock pattern if I remember right, but that was just 91 and 92. After that, they were their own pattern so you'll have to either use the Mark VIII's transmission, or a 97+ F150 transmission if you want a manual. If you use the Lincoln trans, just transplant the whole deal including the harness and computer.
There are no motor mounts for this swap. So youll have to fab some for motor. Same for the trans mount.
You will need a new drive shaft.
As far as the fuel tank, there is a good write up for the 1970 mustang tank mounted behind the axle. I would look at using the stock fuel pump mounted in the 70 stang tank.
The C6 will not bolt up to your 95 DOHC motor.
The Edelbrock intake posted will not work with any DOHC motor.
You can transfer all of the wiring from the Mark over to the F100, but if you look at RonFrancis wiring Detail zone, youll find a complete no hassle wiring kit.
