When I was drag racing a lot your cut off switch had to be mounted at the rear by the tail light or bumper in case of an accident or roll over and it had to kill the system of the vehicle. I had mine hooked up a few different ways and it would still run when you killed the switch. Thing is the alternator will keep every thing running as if you started it up and took the battery out, it was running on the alternator. Summit sells a kit to fix that and it's kind of pricey. The secret is to go to NAPA and get a one way diode (pt# 102-30 or 0144200E52) for 15 bucks and install it in the power out side of the alternator. Battery cut off and kill switch in one.
