I am selling my 2004 F150 and had both keys to give to the buyer and one of the keys anti theft chip had been cut ( cut off some or the black plastic ring end ) by me because the key was to long to fit in a magnetic box I hid under the truck . Yep I locked my keys in the truck 5 or 6 times while fishing over the years , 3 times with this 2004 so I knew I needed to hide a key .


The 2004 F150 had no power door locks , so I either did not know or remember the key had a anti theft chip , but it does and I found out the hard way with days of trying to figure out why it started and ran fine and 4 times cranked but would not start . Also I did not notice the anti theft light flashing when it would not start .


So if you have a crank but wont start issue , notice if anti theft light on your instrument panel is flashing while cranking and no start and has your key been damaged !!!
