New Rig!

Hey Fellas,

I havent posted here in a while because I sold my 99 f150 about four years ago. I was in my early years of college and could not afford to pay for the gas as my only source of income was summer jobs. Now that I've graduated and have been working for about 8 months, I decided it is time to get a new truck and here it is!

It's a 2011 F150 XLT with XTR and convenience package with the 5.0 engine. Here is what I think so far:

Likes:
-I've only put about 160 miles on it but I have allready noticed that this engine is spectacular!! It just wants to go, and sounds amazing. This is a huge improvement over the 2V 5.4 that I had and even over my dad's 3V 5.4
-The cab is very quiet and you can really only hear the engine when you accelerate.
-I really like the LCD screen in the dash, and the built in bluetooth functionality is useful and seamless.
-I like how I can manually change gears, and even limit the tranny from shifting into any gears from the top down.
-The back seats are HUGEE way bigger than my dads 2006 f150 crew cab. They fold up easily and the floor is completely flat
-The ride is very smooth, steering feel is very good and feels natural. Body roll is minimal on curvy roads.
-The stereo is decent for a truck

Dislikes:
-My first complaint is that the interior looks nice, but there is a lot of hard plastic which feels a little cheap.
-The storage between the driver and passenger seat is surprisingly small
-An extra USB inside a bin would have been nice to hide cables
-Gas mileage is terrible right now (but I can assume it will get better as the engine breaks in)
-There is only a very thin coat of paint inside the engine bay.
-The rims are not real chrome!!!!! They are just shiny plastic covers!

Thats all I can think of for now!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Rich

congrats on the new truck... looks sharp. Any modifications in the near future. I'm now wishing i would have waited for the 2011, but after getting back from a deployment this time last year i was too eager to wait. hope it treats you as well as mine has.

Other than adding a tonneau cover and mudflaps, I don't think I'll do any major mods for a while...maybe a catback but for now all leave all my modding for the stang .

I was seriously considering a 2009/10 but with all the incentives that my dealer was giving me, it was pointless buying used.

Nice truck! Got a notice just before Christmas that my order I placed in November was sent to the plant. I should be getting my Lariat at the end of the month. Got the 5.0L also. What is the mileage you're getting right now?

You got your foot in it, that's why. Nice looking truck! Looks like polished wheels.

If you haven't seen this before, you can run a second USB cable (e.g. to your glove compartment) and then access it as "USB2" from Sync -- pretty simple:
