1997 engine replacement

I have a 97 expedition with the 4.6l Romeo engine and I would like to know if an engine from a 98 crown Vic will work? Thanks for your help.

It should, at the most, you'll have to swap intake manifolds, oil pan, and oil pick up tube.

I would think that you would be able to with making a few changes as mentioned by the other post about your intake, oil pan and what ever. I wish you well is this if you do it. The modular engines were at one time made to be all interchangable but as years went by some changes were made and made it a huge headache at times for the DIY.

There are two versions of the 4.6. You want to make sure you get another Romeo built one for the swap.

If the engine code ( believe it to be the 8th digit) on the vin is W, then its the Romeo engine, the windsors had the 5, L and a S or something like that.
