hey guys, i had an unproductive saturday. i kept stopping to listen to the radio, about the 12 people shot in arizona including a senator and judge. also, to be sure everybody knows how tough he was he shot a 9 year old girl.
I just got home from snowmobiling, I am cold lol. Only did about 35 miles but it was alright riding. Helmet camera was a success, will have some video up tomorrow. Should be funny recording go karting lol
And wow Aaron, I heard about the AZ rep and judge that got shot but not the little girl. That's pathetic.
the bridgeport mechanic is right about modern fuel injection, but what about auto trannies that are in almost every car on the road? how are they with ice cold fluid? *******.
Ill have it up when I get home tomorrow. I'm really impressed with the video quality and you can't hear the idle sound much but as soon as I get on it, you can hear it clearly and loud. And I watched the clips on a 36" tv and it still looked really good. They came out well at night also. I'm impressed it was only $160 I think

We're not sure what happened, but it's been pretty cold over the last couple of weeks (sub-freezing during the day.. down to around 15F at night a few times). I drove the car twice during that time on very short trips to the store in ~18F weather. Apparently the car didn't like this too much.
After talking to some dealer techs who have seen this on other TDI's during really cold weather, we think some condensation may have built up in some piping (no idea where) during the couple short drives (car didn't have enough time to warm up and evaporate said condensation) and then refroze afterward. This likely blocked the flow of air, or whatever, and kept the car from starting.
So, after talking to several people I ended up having AAA get my car towed to my favorite Seattle area shop (Fine Tuning).
at least the tow driver had boards... and thankfully I'm replacing my front lip soon
By this time we'd heard a couple of suggestions from the dealer techs who'd seen other TDI's do this.. and we tried cranking the engine over for longer. It eventually started up, dieseled a bit, then died. We started it once more, it ran rough, then smoothed out, and has been running great since (250 miles in the 24 hours following).
So.. lesson learned: these cars like/need to be driven and don't like short trips, especially in sub-freezing conditions. Try to get the car warmed up to temp...
I know it is a German car, so it should give the owner trouble whenever it can, but it seems that this TDI was having some troubles when not warmed up, or driven on long trips.
Just out from our house (west wardsboro) onto the 710 trail which our club maintains then north on 7 for about 10 miles then back south for about 15-20 miles. Corridor 7 was actually pretty good going south, going north sucked.
i have a little snow, going out to clean vehicles now. some little pig porker took my perfectly cleaned (by me) spots where i park my truck and car, so if i decide to clean the ground i will be shoveling it back into those spots. we dont have assigned parking, but everybody here parks in the same spots always, and i claimed a spot for my truck that was easy to get into, the parking lot was NOT designed for anything bigger than a prius so now i am taking 2 spots and just about blocking access to several others. rant off, good morning.
