I got the numbers off the tag on my rear axle and was hoping someone could help me decode it and possibly tell me what it came out of. (WBS AD2 3.00 4CA 160), so far all I could come up with is it is from 63 or 64 possible 28 spline 8.75" with a 3.0-1 gear ratio...
Yeah I have a 8 3/4 (9") out of a 71 f100 pickup with a 6 cylinder. I was totally stoked about finally finding a 9" axle from a pre 72 truck to bolt into my 51...then I found out it wasn't a "true" 9" inch by the 8 3/4 ring gear it has. I was bumbed a little but I figured it is plenty stronger than the original dana 44 and I believe that even though the ring and gear is a 8 3/4" it still has interchange ability with the 9" parts when you want to change to a different gear ratio. Mine turned out to be exactly what I wanted, a 3:70 gear.
wbs ad 1963 - 64 passenger car 9" 3.00 ratio . 8 3/4 rring gear nl or non locker , prolly 28 spline .4ca is the date code . 160 is the plant number . try fordification .com . mostly for bumpsides but full of very useful info ed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
