There are a couple of different trans temp commands to try. Did you find them both? This is the one that works on my 04:
TFT 07E1221674 046205160674 3010 000100080000 TFT Degrees F

I just got my SG on Monday so it's got all the latest updates. You might want to check the firmware version and send it for the updates, which I "think" are free. Their website has the info. I'd go out and check mine but the weather is just plain NASTY right now so I'll get it and check back.

Unless the engine is running the scangauge2 goes to sleep,
even with the key on. I think it even went to sleep while
programming the PIDs, if I stopped to lookup the next data value to enter.

I've also observed during the long glow plug warm up cycle on cold days,
it doesn't come ON until the engine starts too.

You can press the bottom right button to manually turn it "on" or "off"
with the key in any position.

Hope this helps.

My experiences exactly. I guess they had to have someway to make it sleep but I don't understand it sleeping with the key on.

FWIW, I have Scangauge firmware version 3.17mb. I found that I can't display the same parameter twice, so for example, if I load ECT in two positions, only one ECT will give a reading.

I was able to load both the newly defined ECT and the original fWT, and both parameters gave me identical, or at least nearly identical readouts.

According to their website, Scangauge does offer an upgrade to the current firmware for units purchased after July 20, 2007. I assume this update would add the Xgauge features to a non-Xgauge device. That info can be found here: ScangaugeII Upgrade

Cool, thanks for the info that's just how mine is so you and I must have the same firmware version.
