A couple months ago I had an Egr failure in my 2006 6.0. Thinking I was doing the right thing I took it to the dealership and let them fix it. $2800 bones later my truck just doesn't seem to be running right. I have a scangauge on my truck and my EOT and fWT has a very high split between the two often times my EOT will be around 225-230 and fWT will be 185-190. Does this seem right and am I just over paranoid since I recent had an EGR issue. I am thinking maybe a bad oil cooler? The truck has never had any type of Bulletproofing done to it although I have been considering it lately and have gotten a quote from a shop here in Va Beach for $6900 to bulletproof the motor. I bought the truck with 96,000 miles on it and it just rolled over to 100,000 this week. It's only had that one EGR issue since I've owned the truck. 6900$ is a lot of money for me but I can afford it and want to do it if it's necessary.
No the ford dealership did not replace the oil cooler when they did the EGR cooler, from what I've been told by many people this is a very rookie mistake for a dealership.
Also it hasn't actually thrown a code or anything since I've gotten it back I've just noticed the big split in EOT and fWT and once on about a 35-40 mile trip my wrench light came on.
what was the spread before the EGR cooler?
Will you be doing the work yourself?
I didn't have gauges when it originally happened the day I picked it up from the dealer after new EGR cooler was installed I went and bought a Scangauge 2. Originally I was driving down the highway lost all power started pouring white smoke out the tail pipe and wouldn't go over 10mph had it towed to the dealer they replaced EGR cooler. Got it back ran fine for about a month, a good 10 degree split then one day on about a 40 mile trip my wrench light comes on I notice a pretty big split between EOT and fWT never went into limp mode or anything and I still drive about 10 miles back and forth about 3-4 days a week and the wrench light hasn't came back on since that day.
Unfortunately I won't be doing the work myself I don't have the right tools nor the place to work on it because I live in an apartment and I lack the technical skills lol to work on it.
