Well, 2 1/2 years, 78000kms, and my truck finally let me down. Yup, have to replace my 3rd brake light bulb Pretty much can say I'm happy with the service of this truck thus far...
Haha yeah pretty typical. I had to put in an outer tie rod (did both just becasue) this week. Pretty good considering the terrible road it went on for a couple years. Just turned over 100K.
Not bad at all either Collin. I remember asking the Dodge guy about their front ends when I tried out the heavy duty Dodge. He proudly said that most guys got 60k out of the front ends without needing replacement, now with a new design they expect to get 80k out of the front ends... I know, the cummins is a heavy engine, but wouldn't you expect the truck to be built to handle it?
Thats stellar performance from your truck Sherm. Front hubs and ball joints and other steering components are nothing to brag about on any of the diesel 3/4 and 1 ton trucks - I think they should all be sized up a bit given the condition of so many roads and the pounding they endure...
A note to good maintence for sure. Yep, there is nothin wrong with F150's, just hope the new motor replacing the 5.4 is a sucess.
Fords bad rep is still mainly just the diesels, even though I did recently have problem with V10's, my repair bills were just around 500
On my PSD I got over 200ks on my front end and all I had to replace was one ball joint. I know it was only 2wd but my buddy with his Dodge 2wd couldn't get 100k's on his front end and his driving was 99% highway. I am interested to see how that Ecoboost engine turns out. Looks impressive in the video clips.
As much as I liked my Diesel I don't really need all that power. That Ecoboost with 400ft/lbs of torque sounds like the motor for me. I am doing more towing with my truck all the time and although they are not heavy loads a little extra power would be nice as my camper and sled trailers are just big sails.
I didn't think it was possible to have too much power... I tried out a '06 F350 king ranch the other day. Real beauty, but after driving the new 6.7, I'd sooner keep my '08 F150 than step back to a 6.0L. The "drivability" of the new diesel is phenomenal. No turbo lag, ultra quiet and smooth, and the power?? Lets not even go there...makes my pants fit funny...
That's great Sherm, I love my new f150. Went out to the in-laws yeasterday and used it to dig the seld and trailer out of the snow. Had to pull the boat out of the way first. There was proably a foot of snow that blew in beside the shed where they were parked and the truck had no trouble getting in there and yanking them both out(unfortunitly there is no room for my toys to be inside). Then parked the sled and trailer in my back yard with no problems. Haven't tried starting the sled yet, she was stitting out side all year and got a little mouldly under the tarp.
I'm also very interested in the new ecoboost, as it replaces the 5.4 that I have now, if you want the max trailer tow package in a 6.5 bed crew you only get the ecoboost. The 5.4l will last a long time at the rate I drive her, 15klm in the last month, with under 7000klm on the truck since I got her in May!!!
As much as I like to drive my truck the less miles I have to put on it the better. Your truck is going to last you a long time Marlon at your current miles per month rate.
I bought a '97 mercury sable, just before picking up the new truck. The car was a elderly couples and very well looked after and it only had a 142000Klm on it when we got it. Picked it up for $3500 from the dealer where I got my truck and I have put 10,000klm on it. The truck gets used more in the summer for camping and boating, but that's basically all it gets used for now is to tow! With Jen off on maternity leave I drive the escape when it's icy and tell her to take the truck if she needs to go some where.
I had a few thoughts about picking up another vehicle to save miles on this truck, but then I thought... I bought the truck to drive, I love the truck, I love driving this truck, why go through the expense of owning another vehicle...
