I have a 2002 ford f250 superduty with 7.3 powerstroke. It is very sluggish and weak when I first start it and it flutters a some when i accelerate even after it warms up. The truck use no oil and does not smoke. I am changing glow plugs this weekend and would like to go ahead and try to fix everything since i will be under the hood any ways. If anyone could help figure this out i would appreciate it.
That is normal in cold weather. My truck does the same. The flutter/hissing sound is from the ebpv closing when cold. I gutted it on mine but still sluggish when cold. You are best to take it easy until the truck warms up. FYI there is a 7.3 section down the page a little. You would get more responses there.
Mine does the same and I was under impression that this is ebpv till somebody told here, that the valve doesn't act till below 30-40F.
Mine engine is sluggish starting at 55F and goes like it for a mile not being able to rev above 2300 rpm. Than something "gives" and it goes.
I think this is a computer program besides ebpv, but it doesn't bother me that much to worry about it.
