Finally found the factory rims for my truck. Just took 3 months. I have a question. Did the factory setup have lug nut covers or anything specific other than the bare lug nuts. Flat style of course.
I'm trying to hunt down some factory lug nuts. But don't want to just grab the first ones I can if I need something specific.
Finally found lug nuts for the truck. Ford specs a Stainless Steel lug nut for the Fx4 package. However at around $10 per lug nut for these I said screw it.
Dorman 611-230 is the product number. They are a chrome finished lug nuts with the attached flat washer. They look similar to the acorn nuts common on aftermarket rims. Similar domed top. Dorman lists a chrome capped lug nut on their site. I did not find the price on them. The nuts I picked up were $.99 each. Not bad considering the factory alternative would cost $200.
I bought these through O'Reilly Automotive.
Figured I'd post this for those that my be searching in the future. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to buy new tires now and sell my old rims and tires together or just swap tires.
If you havent already run into a problem, becarefull. i did this same swap to my truck and couldn't use the lugs that came with my wheels because my 97 has 12mm studs and the 02+ have 14mm. just thought i would throw this out there as im not sure what year they changed stud size.
on a side note, i would love to find some nice lugs that look like they match what should be with the FX4 wheels, but i need for 12 mm studs, Any ideas? is there another ford vehicle that would have the lugs i need?
Ford had them a few years ago but it was at a ridiculous price when you figure 20 of them
are needed. I think I found them in their Ford Racing catalog back then. Needless to say
my original 12mm's work just fine, you'd have to be on your stomach to see them down
in there.

ask and you shall receive. 12mm lug nuts. chrome finished. Not capped. I didn't make it to the tire shop today to get my wheels switched out. However I did drop the lug nuts into the holes and took a look. Perfect depth in the hold and they look good. And for $180 less than what Ford was charging.
