Not sure if any of you have done this, but those spacers between the leafs kind of deteriorate over time. Dealer likely won't have them, perhaps a spring shop. Wonder if any suggestions on things around the garage - maybe light sheet steel or sheet aluminum ? Plastic they use out near the ends but I am thinking in the center - where the bolt holds it together - it absolutely doesn't seem like plastic - originally. Have you done it ? What works for you ??
I had some deaver springs that had those and they helped the springs slide on each other. Probably dont really need them but they still build all their springs with them... Mine squeaked a lot when they got dirt in them.
The spring shop said that the springs are not supposed to move, if the ' U ' bolts are torqued correctly. If the springs are sliding, might try going with a larger ' U ' bolt size. I use 5/8, and the shop says that those ' U ' bolts are only good for one time use. Apparently, they don't torque down correctly the second time around. With the weight i haul around, i'm goin w / what they tell me.
I may not be talking about the same thing... I meant the pads that are between each leaf in the leaf spring set. The "leafs" will slide on each other as the suspension cycles.
