Headers or not?

I asked him about the Dynomax headers, and I believe his exact words were "you don't want to do that on your engine."

And please, keep it coming. I want to know as much as possible. Thanks again.
Did you think about Stan's Headers?? Give them a call... they'll
even do a 5" mandrel bent single exhaust...in house...and they're
in the area (Auburn)

Headers or not?

I think the L and L's are sounding better and better. Thanks canzus, I'll keep that in mind.

Definitly go with the L and L's you won't be disapointed. They have two different sets, one with the air-injection and one without the air-injection. I went for the ones with out it. they are cheaper and I was told that they will last longer.

Headers or not?

Fordman,

Where in Seattle are you?
I am in the Kent/Renton area.

I agree with Canzus. I would take a trip to Stan's in Auburn and talk with them. They have built their business and considerable reputation on headers. They have built and designed them for many of the top on and off-road race teams in the country. They definitely know their business like no one else.

It would be worth talking to them. Give them a call and tell them what you have heard. Information is your best tool. $720 is a joke, even for our area. Puget Sound area is expensive for truck stuff, but not that expensive.

Stan's

Headers or not?

I have one more question. How can I tell if my engine is air injection or not?

To tell if you have air-injection on your truck look on top of the cat-converter and if there is a small pipe that comes into the top of it at the front then you have air-injection. Also near the batery there will be two small cans that have hoses coming into and out of them. That is the setup that my truck had. If you plan on keeping the stock cat then you will want to keep the system intact and get the headers that have the parts for it. If you get rid of the stock cat you can eliminate the whole system which is easy. This is what I did and the truck runs much better without the emmissions stuff on it. Hope this helps.

Headers or not?

I think that some 460's had air pipes to the exhaust manifolds at each cylinder. That is probably what they are referring to if the header manufacturer is asking about it.

That is true about the extra pipes attached to the manifolds. There are two on each side. On the drivers side one is for the EGR wich will be used with headers the others are for the air-injection.
