Oil Pressure Gage Intermittant

Oil Pressure Gage Intermittant
It's been a bit extra cold here in Michigan lately. I noticed this morning that the oil pressure gage was not operating when I started up this on the way to work. I did not hear any tappet noise so I let the engine warm up. After a couple of minutes, the gage "jerked-up" into the normal position. The oil level is at "FULL" and an oil change was done within 500 miles. Has anyone heard of any problems with the oil level sensor? 2001, F150XLT Supercab, 4.6L Manual

I am having the same problem with my truck, the gauge does not seem to work until the truck warms up. No tapping or knocking to show signs of low oil pressure. I called my dealer and the service tech said it was probably just a bad sender, which is what I thought. Normally if an oil pump goes bad it just stops working, I am going to install another gauge because I don't trust the ford gauge and I will also replace the sender at the same time. If you find out any more info please let me know, and I will do the same.
Oh, FYI I have a 2000 F150 4X4 with the 5.4

If no one has posted it lately, Ford has an updated oil sender, (switch), to install to rectify the LOW/no oil pressure on cold startups for almost every vehicle they make lately.
Go to your local ford store, and they'll stock one. Guaranteed.
If they act puzzled, (or don't have a clue), have them run OASIS message for gauge concerns, and the updated sender unit will come up.
