OBDII port
Probably a dumb question but can the OBDII port be split to accomodate additional gauges. The wife bought me one of those Garmin navigators and has the ability to Bluetooth data from the OBD port to the device but I don't want to remove the Edge Insight that is already plugged in. The Garmin has some neat features so I was wondering is there a pigtail-like device.

Here it is. Reviews other places say that connectiing two devices to the same OBDII port may cause conflicts and either, both or none may work.

First there are no dumb questions, just dumb mistakes. Electronics can be strange at times when using a splitter device. Just because someone makes it does not mean that it will always work. Also on identical vehicles what works for one will not work for the other!!

I need to check the documentation for the CAN bus.
But as a bus, normally it needs a bus master to be able to use two active devices on it at the same time.

More than just the CAN buss also. On the '04, there is the CAN, ISO, SCP and UBP busses. I don't know if all of those continued on through 05 and beyond, however. I believe the eventual goal of OBD-II was to be all CAN eventually.
