.....is the mother of invention. Last week we had a little snow so I took my girls sledding. We have those Cheap plastic junk sleds, so I tried to find them some old school sleds like I had as a kid. No luck there either. I made a quick trip to Goodwill and bought a couple of pairs of skis(8 bucks a pair) and spent this afternoon making MOAS- the Mother Of All Sleds!
First thing in the morning we go and try it out! I got the whole, "That things not safe lecture from the wife" followed quickly by, "The girls aren't riding it."
Little does she know....They're the ones who wanted me to build it!
Way to go Jetdoc. That looks like a whole lot more fun than sitting on a sheet of chinese plastic, might actually get some downhill speed too! Tell the missus that we never seemed to get hurt back in the days before sled chasing attorneys,
This thought crossed my mind just today as I was watching my kids sled ride on their plastic sleds, I wondered what it would take to make me a wooden sled with metal runners like I had when I was a kid. good invention!!

I have about fifty bucks wrapped up in it so far. Some of the material I had here, and the rest came from Home Depot. We only got about an inch of snow, I hope it's enough for a good test.
My daughter went sliding yesterday on my old wooden toboggan. This thing must be 35 years old and hasn't been used since I was a kid. She looked a little out of place but had fun anyway.
I was thinking along those lines, but if that's what it cost to build, the local army surplus store has medium sized arctic sleds for $45. I just want something to haul the kids around on behind the snowmobile.
