Doing a web search and reading testimonials, I hear there's a product called "Guaranteed to Pass" under the CRC name. It's to be a "complete fuel system cleaner. Have any one of you ever used this product? You add it to a full tank of gas.
Yeah run some Seafoam or CRC G2P in it on the tank full before its time to do the sniffer. It will clean stuff up some and help. I don't think you want to run it in the tank during sniffer though. Definitely make sure its warmed up really good. Drive it around for a while and drive it a little hard that should help. I always change my oil before going in too.
I just cannot believe what I am experiencing with my truck. I added Seafoam to my gas tank (the front one) and this is what happened:
1. My front gas tank was not registering on my fuel gage but now, IT IS FUNCTIONING!
2. My front gas tank is not even half empty and I have driven my truck over 110 miles so I am getting more MPG and this is around town.
I can't believe the above happened because of this additive. Oh, I also had a thermostat installed. (it was missing one) I don't quite believe this is happening just because I added Seafoam as you guys suggested. Has this happen to any of you?
The thermostat not being installed could definitely part of the issue with passing sniffer. Without it the truck wont warm up all the way so the computer will think it is still in open loop.
I have used the CRC stuff too as well as Seafoam and Berrymans. I generally run Seafoam in my truck about every 6 months and for every 3 months in between, I run Techron in it.
When mine couldn't pass the sniffer test, I performed the KOER test and it showed a TAB/TAD system malfunction. The sniffer test showed high CO and HO. Replaced both TAB and TAD solenoids, along with the O2 sensor (for good measure); trouble code cleared and passed the sniffer test.
If you haven't done so already, perform the KOEO and KOER test and see if you get any codes. I didn't have a CEL while operating the truck, but it did show up during the KOER test.
