Getting around emissions
I wanted to get straight exhaust for my truck. No cat and no muffler. But, in the state of Virginia, I have to get a State Safety Inspection every year. And for some strange reason, they check for cats and mufflers on the "safety" inspection. I know there are ways around this using test pipes or something like that. I want to be able to add a cat and muffler just for the test, and then remove it easily right after. What exactly do I need? Anyone have links?

Two ways of doing it. Get a kit that already has a muffler and uses factory cat and just get the delete pipes(or make your own) for the respective parts or hollow out the cat and muffler and run a straight pipe thru those parts(the old fashioned way of doing things). I believe that's about those are the only two ways of doing it.

I have an MBRP setup that will allow you to remove and install the cat as needed. I'm in VA if you are interested in seeing and talking more about the setup. You might need some additional work to do the same on the muffler. VA inspections do not require the muffler, but VA law does....go figure.
