Once I was trying to start my truck and managed to run the battery all the way down with the starter before I noticed that I had not turned the ignition switch on. I turned it on and rolled it down a hill to start it. 6V

Yup, every one of my trucks are wired like that. Also if you have the original solenoid there will be a button on the bottom of it so you can turn it over while you are under the hood.

just like the cars and they're grounded, so if the wire comes off and touches the dash. I had a problem 1 time involving working under the dash and a garage door....... from that point on I put a relay under the dash so it won't crank with the switch off.
