my transmission on my 1992 f150 has stop going into reverse and overdrive what would cause it to happen?
If I need to rebuild it does anyone have the diagrams to rebuild it? and pics of the inside of the transmission as the rebuild was done and what the internals should look like?
my truck is a 1992 f150 xlt 2wd extended cab truck
the motor is a 302 with a 2wd E40D transmission.
I found a transmission from a 1998 f350 7.3 liter turbo diesel with a 2wd E40D transmission would it fit my truck?
I know E40D transmission's from 1992 to 1995 f150 would work but what years of f250 and f350 would fit it with the heavier transmission coolers?
Different engines have different bell-housing bolt-patterns. The 302 and 351 share transmissions, the 460 has its own E40D not compatable with the small-block and the 7.3L of course has its own transmission.
Simple answer:
If you have a 302 or a 351 get a transmission that came behind a 302 or 351.
If you have a 460 get a 460 transmission.
If you have a Diesel get a transmission for that particular Diesel engine.
I am probably going to replace it if I can't find a cheap rebuild kit and instruction's on how to rebuild it and what tools I need to do the job.
If you now of a cheap rebuild kit please let me now. I am also looking for a wrecked f150,250 or f350 with a 302 or 351 w with a 2wd E40d transmission around 50k or less in the North shore of MA if I can't get a cheap rebuild kit .

If you look a few lines down from your thread you will see a thread "Rebuilding the E4OD", click on that for some good info.
