Thats a expensive conversion for the sake of the convenience of getting parts. I don't mind waiting a couple days for parts in the mail, I'll take my IDI any day. My turbocharged IDI is more powerful than a stock 12V cummins anyway.

Snapon for the price of a turbo kit for an idi you could push a alot more out of a 12v.

I know that, but for the money you're gonna have to spend on the conversion puts things out of proportion in my view.

Thats not bad for the cummins, plus 96-97 were the best years for the 12V's if my memory serves me. Its when you have to get conversion plate's, custom wiring, and make everything work properly thats gonna be a money pit. Gonna take on heck of a lot of work, too. It's not easy putting something and making it all work where it ain't supposed to be.

Believe me, it's not a walk in the park putting a cummins in. If my 7.3 ever crapped out on me really bad and I had to pull the engine and rebuild it-then I would probably put a 12V back in. But I have 105K on it and PO maintained it pretty well-I got no reason to put a cummins in.
