Hey guys I was test fitting my new coolant filtration from dieselsite and noticed that the filter and filter head hit the plastic battery cover and the upper rad hose. I contacted bob at dieselsite and he told me to try and move the rad a little but this is a normal thing on the powerstrokes.
Wanted to see what others were doing or if this was or wasnt normal??
Mine doesn't hit the battery tray, and it might slightly rub the upper radiator hose. It is very close to both sides. I have about 1/4" on the battery side. Since this picture, I switched to the "around the belt" upper radiator hose and it's a little closer on that side now. It might barely rub on the hose now. I have a 2001, with stock air intake.
I think that's a great filter setup. I'm very pleased with mine. Mine plugged up within an hour or two of driving. I think the previous owner had used stop leak.
I have the same thing to report. I have a 2000 with the 'around the belt' hose & it is a little snug when changing filters. I have mine installed for several years & haven't had any issues. One thing that I do is use a magic marker to write the mileage that the filter was installed on the side of the filter so that I see it easily. It helps me be aware of how long the filter has been working. I also switched my antifreeze to the long lasting one so I don't have to deal with the sca issues. I hope this helps.
I had the Diesel Site Coolant filter never installed because i had seen it rub against the "around the belt hose" and sold it and bought a TYMAR Coolant filter assembly. love how my coolent filter is mounted, its just a little different than Bobs. Bob's is still a great set up if u can live with it rubbing
I had this same problem with my Dieselsite setup-my truck came with the through the belt hose and I swapped on the around the belt one just before installing the filter setup.
I ended up re-installing (a new) through the belt hose-I really don't see any huge problem in using this hose and now I have clearance between the filter and my upper hose.

I did the same thing, well I just kept the through the belt hose. Not really a big deal.
