Oil Pan Replacement

Can the oil pan on a 78 with a 302 be changed out without jacking the engine up ?

4x4 or no? My 78 F150 4x4, ive done it a few times to change out oil pan gaskets and main seals! Its actually not really that hard, you gotta take out the bottom starter bolt, loosen the top one to rotate the starter away from the pan, then take out all the oil pan bolts, and just try to rotate it around the Oil Pump without drippin oil into your mouth or eyes! haha

I do not have a 4x4

you'll have to jack it up to pull it.. luckaly the 302 has alot of rear clearence, my 460 truck required complete motor pull out..

yeah you might have to lift it by the frame to stretch out the front suspension, so that you have some clearance between the axle and oil pan, didnt think of that since mine has a 4" lift in it...

the 4X2s axles hang under the cross member the motor sits over the top raising the frame to stretch the suspension only gives you some room to work won't help the motor/oil pan issue...
