User selectable programming changes

Got this idea from another thread, see if it flies.
Have an idea that fits the bill, post and I'll add them to the first post.

I'm thinking along the lines that a flash update could do in making user selectable changes.

  1. Memorized trailer also memorizes brake system type (electric/hydraulic)
  2. User selectable exhaust braking, activation and level
  3. xxx Lane change blink duration , increased when trailer is connected
  4. Mirrors fold with key fob - maybe with a "double tap"
  5. Additional digital gauges, like EGT, engine temp etc
  6. Show oil life percentage instead just ok.
  7. Show DEF as a percentage or level instead of just OK.
  8. Show fuel filter life percentage.
  9. User selectable Heat/cool level for seats with activation on remote start up

Hah I'd settle for the memory seats actually being linked to the key fob as described in the manual.

The memory seats link to the keypad as described but I have yet to get them to work with the actual integrated key transmitters.

The first one on the list would be nice but I dont know how it would distinguish between trailers.
But mine is
1.Show oil life percentage and def percentage intead of just ok.
2 User selectable temperature for heated and cooleed seat activation on remote startup.

You can program a variety of different trailers through the dash display, and memorize the settings. I routinely pull a 5th wheel with electric over hydraulic brakes, a motorcycle trailer with standard electric brakes and a boat trailer with no brakes.

With my wife's Lincoln they are supposed to work like that, seldom do though, and those key fobs are numbered 1 and 2. That way you know which key should be yours.

I like those additions

Especially EGT , had a Gauge set on the Old Dodge and kinda miss the EGT already. Really dont want to spring for another gauge set .

I wonder if the Ford Peeps can do that. Especially the DEF thing. Just having it say OK all the time, dunno if that good or not.

If Ford wants to really have a better idea they shouldn't just give us a few pieces of candy.

Give us a DVD with Super Duty Owner Configuration software that we can connect the laptop up via Bluetooth. The software could allow all of the above suggestions and anything else that is configurable to be done via the PC. Want daytime running lights; configure them on (if in location where required by law, don't let owner configure off). Provide a way to calibrate the fuel usage for those wanting to fine tune same.

Like idea of folding mirrors via the key fob; but I want control of the tailgate lock via the fob too.

The rear doors have child locks; so make them so if someone tries to open a rear door with it locked it will unlock and open when the child lock is off.

How about displaying the actual tire pressures; including the spare; to really get out of the box with respect to competition offer optional sensors that one can install on their trailer's tires and be active when respective trailer is selected.

Use that Bluetooth technology so that if the truck is started w/o the owner's paired cellphone(s) connected that the truck has optional factory cell phone connection to call the owner and advise that the truck has been started; with option for owner to shut it down.......

So maybe I am hijacking your thread as you only want some flash updates.

Sorry for that,

Bob

could you say that again?

if child lock is not on, then a back seat passenger should be able to open the door?
(locked or not?)

I think he is referring to an "override" where if the door is locked and you pull the handle it unlocks. This was safety feature to keep the doors from being opened accidentally.

Child locks are for the obvious.

re-read your owners manual -
I've been able to program them on my 05 F-250, my 08 F-250, my 11 F-250 and my wife's 08 Expedition LTD - really like the way that everything is set off the different key's especially since we're about a foot different in height. I only wish the rear view mirror was motor driven so it would move automatically as well.

Keypad
Press 7/8 & 9/10 to lock doors as it is today
Press 5/6 & 7/8 to roll up all of the windows and lock the doors.
Press 3/4 & 5/6 to fold in mirrors, roll up windows and lock the doors.
Press 1/2 & 3/4 to lock tailgate, fold in mirrors, roll up windows and lock the doors.

Any of those combinations would activate the alarm system.

Maybe be inventive and have a combination that is programable so that I leave the windows slightly open during the Texas heat.

In other words, just make the keypad more functional.

I'd like to add some custom text replies to the ones listed in the NAV center. I like 9 as well:

9. User selectable Heat/cool level for seats with activation on remote start up
