we had a injector fail and cause gas to go thru the motor/exhaust. the truck is currently at the ford dealer under warranty. they are telling me that they replaced the injector but it still has loss of compression in cylinder and needs a short block. also saying there is a "ticking" in the upper end and want to put heads on it too and want me to pay the $3k for the upper end. it sounds like a lot of parts replacing to me. ive read a little about the ticking related to the timing chain tensioners and it would sure be a shame to put heads on a car that only needs a timing chain. any advise would be appreciated. its a 2005 expy with 74k. too soon in my opinion to be having these issues. please advise. thanks
I think they are trying to pad the bill to make up for the low money they are paid by Ford or the Warrantee Company for the needed work. Tell them to replace only that which is covered by the warrantee. In my opinion they should replace the whole engine under warrantee if the top is marginal now and they know it as it's covered by warrantee now and for who knows for how much longer.
that was my thought as well. currently they are "talking" to the warranty people and ford rep trying to "see what they can do". i think this is only because i told them to just do whatever was covered under the warranty and we would go from there. they also told me of a bunch of other stuff it "needed" and would run me around $2300 more. i am having them do a couple of those things but not what they suggested. i am starting to lose faith in ford....sadly
