sounds good to me. I would like something to do once a month or so. a GTG would be cool. I need to go to the mall this tuesday to check out the Car show there since I get off work early on tuesdays. Middi Gras also sounds good for a state meet.
Glad you guys are on board for Muddi Gras, I'll find out when the next one is and let yall know asap. We'll literally be in the middle of nowhere. The only civilization is a single restaraunt on a corner about a mile down and a gas station about 5 miles down but they jack up their prices, so it's smart to pack a cooler for the weekend and bring a few gas cans.
We'll be smackdab in the middle of about a 35 mile stretch of road but as I said a good thousand or more ppl come out for the weekend. Blankets are a must for we'll have to sleep in our trucks. They do have ****ters and showers but with 1,000 ppl you know how that can go. I doubt we'll do much sleeping as it's more or less a 3 day party.
They do have scheduled events at night like mud races, demolition derbys, monster trucks, the whole 9. The huge mud pits are open day-round but they're pretty deep. I wouldn't suggest bringing campers or anything because you will NOT be able to get through due to the thick mud, the path there and around are meant for 4-wheel drives only.
What about Muddi Gras? It's kind of central, it's about an hour and a half outside of Orlando and they get about a thousand people for the turnouts. They do it three times a year and if I'm not mistaken, the next one is going to be either next month or in March. It's $40 for the entire weekend, I went last May and had a BLAST! Not kid safe, though, lots of boobies flying around if you're stocked up on Mardi Gras beads.
I think I have a couple dozen strings of 12 mm beads left over from a few years ago!
I'm down for meeting the at the mall whenever. I can be there in about 5 mins with bad traffic and the PSL Civic center I can get to in about 10. I'm offering my assistance to anyone that needs help in getting regional stuff together but since I'm sorta new to this, I'm please asking to not be made leader of our "region." I'll see if I can get a few friends together Rich to meet up at the mall tomorrow (1/12/11) if you are still going. Let me know with a PM please.
OK the Holidays are over, where is everyone hiding? Any other idea's for meets? Check out the thread for regional Board members, this should help get some more local meets going in each region.
I actually went to the TC Mall tonight for the Gweeds Gansters show. It was very well organized. The only problem with doing a GTG there is that the vehicle has to be 1986 or older which I bet half or our Florida Chapter members or more couldnt show. I still want to do a cruise night. As for a spring GTG, maybe a park. There are parks on Hutchinson Island. I am open for suggestions.
A cruise around town would be awesome. I'm going to talk to some of my car buddies (Honda people :/) and see where we could possibly meet up. They do this sort of thing all the time.
Just as an update, my Ranger meet went great. There were a few times we weren't sure what to do, but for the most part is was pretty cool. We hit a few trails in the Ocala National Forest, and then found a big sugar sand pit that the 4x4 trucks played in. We had 11 Rangers and about 25 people.
Heck Jim, I can't even remember who I am this time of year let alone where to meet in a few months. You'll have to give me until after the holidays to think about this.
I think with gas prices the way they are and talk of going much higher, regional meets are the way to go. I was thinking maybe a Treasure Coast/ South Florida on Hutchinsen Island. Would make for some cool pics. If not, what about a Hurricane Grill or Cowboys BBQ? Too bad there is not a Hooters near by. Just trying to throw some ideas out there.
Sorry Jimmy...........I feel like the energizer bunny without the energy. We've been going & going & going.
This will be our 2nd weekend at home since the holidays began then next weekend we're off to Daytona for Sat & Sun - Steve's going thru race withdrawl's so we're hitting the speedway. 1st or 2nd weekend in March we're going camping near Daytona at the Cabbage Patch bar to see some coleslaw wrestling - bike week. 3/20 is the theater with my mom and then the following weekend (3/25 & 3/26) is Daytona again for the March car show. That weekend (3/25 & 3/26) we'll be camping at the South Daytona KOA if anyone wants to join us. whew..........I need a stay-at-home vacation....
Oh, and in my spare time, I've been working a little here & there on my newly acquired (12/30/10) car. Its a 1964 Falcon Futura covertible.
Hey Carlene congrats on the new Falcon! My buddy is restoring a '66 Falcon. I'll try to get pictures up.
You sound like you're going a million miles an hour and soon you'll have no energy left. Have you thought about taking some time to yourself for once? haha
Are you perhaps going to the Daytona 500? I get to go again this year for free and I'm pretty stoked for that.
