knocking engine

Hi, I need some help figuring out what is going on with my 69 360 engine. Today in the morning i started up and started knocking on the right side. So i let it warm up and the knocking stop. So later on i started up again and the knocking got worse. I checked the oil level and its full. So im wandering what could it be. I also took the spark plug wires one by one to check if it could be a piston or rod, but still kept knocking. Any ideas or helped will be appreciated thanks.

Pull the valve cover on one side and make sure all your rocker arms are tight.
if they are leave the cover off, with a towel or something (oil is gonna squirt) and start the engine and see if everything looks right.

my guess is a bad lifter too, cause it seems to smooth down ones the oil goes up.

Describe the knock a little better.
Does it make the sound immediately when started ?
Does it go away as soon as the oil pressure builds up, or how long does it take to go away ?
Has your oil filter been relocated ?
Does it sound like a deep thudding knock, or a light tapping, or a loud clapping ?
Does it go with engine rpm when you rev it a little ?

it starts when i start the engine, at first its a little loud tapping. then as the engine warms up and the oil goes up i guess it starts to smooth to a lighter tapping or sometimes it goes away.

You could try Lucas oil additive.

I used it in all my VW air-cooleds to help with lifter tapping since they were solid.

Just did an oil change with thicker oil and it seemed to stop the tapping.
