Another thing that I have noticed since the reflash is I do not see as many regens. I used to catch the cleaning message out of the corner of my eye pretty regular but now, I don't know if I just am not catching it or it is not happening as often, now I only saw it once in the last 700 mile trip I took towing my 5'er.

It makes sense that you would have had less regens when your 5er was attached. Truck was working harder, higher exhaust temps and much more passive regeneration. You would have been consuming more DEF during that time. If I could venture a guess, you probably used $5 worth of DEF but saved yourself $20 worth of fuel. Good trade.

Rear end makes a differance.

I have always used the lie-o-meter for my fuel calculations, that way I have a constant referance.
3:55, I am not really that dissapointed in the milage I am getting but I was hoping that it would be better then the 17-18 I was getting out of my 03 7.3. I only have 6000mi on the truck so it should only get better!!!

High binder.

Point well taken, however, the vast majority of the 6.7 owners have never been to this site. They are driving along, mostly trouble free, enjoying their trucks and never know how much they are missing by not being here. This site attracts two types of truck owners. Enthusiasts that want to know more about their trucks and guy's with questions about issues they may be experiencing. There is a third, the troublemaker/troll but they do not last long here. The Mods do a great job of keeping them out.

Merry Christmas

I believe that many people including myself were influenced by Fords 6.7's initial debut in Texas earlier this year. The article explained that various 6.7 powered pickups were given to reporters from various mags. and a contest was held to see who could cover a course with the highest MPG. I seem to remember some very impressive figures quoted but I believe that a driving technique called hypermiling was used to obtain MPG figures in the 20s. This does not equate to real world driving. Merry Christmas, and happy/safe driving in the New Year.

Thom, I tow a lot and my active regen cycles are very far apart, 1000 miles or more. Consensus here is exactly what Epic explains, more load = less regen.

The funny thing is, those of us that had the 6.4 engine are doubly confused by this. My 6.4 would regen much more often when towing. I used to have a regen cycle 4 times/tank of fuel when towing medium heavy.

So, the 6.4 is exactly the opposite of the 6.7 in this issue. It's a remarkable change and Ford has done a very good job of dealing with this DPF on the 6.7.

We just finished a 22 hour tow to get to Florida and I didn't see the re-gen alert a single time on the whole trip but I did sense it was doing a re-gen at just one point along the way. OTOH we went thru half a DEF tank for the trip. We were towing a 32' TT weighing about 7000 lbs, running 65-70 MPH most of the way.

This is our first long family trip with this truck, so naturally there were two good quotes. The first was while tearing up the hills of PA when my wife turned to me and said "oh, was that a hill?" The truck would stay in sixth most of the time, which is very cool. And one of my kids, after five hours of driving and a fuel/pee break said "ok, can we drive another five hours tonight, I love it back here!" Success!

That is great to hear! The rides I have given my kids thus far have been very positive as well. Haven't put them throough a 22 hour ride yet, put it is good to know that they were comfortable back there.
