6.7 Scorpion...will you buy one in the first year of production?

So all the spy shots have circulated and now the 6.7 Scorpion / Powerstroke Diesel has broken cover. We have read about it and the speculated power output so how many are willing to try a new 6.7 first year run right out of the box?

I am undecided. My 6.0 has been flawless so far and aside from the flash updates, I have not had to have anything done to it other than the usual service.

Let's hear what eveyone thinks.

I for one will buy FMY on this motor no problem!!! I do not depend on my truck to make a living so if I have to take it in for warranty work that is what I will do. That being said I will still **** and moan about it but I think it will be worth it. If they do get better MPG and more power then imagine what a spartan tuner will do to it!!!!

Well, it's late and I'm obviously tired because I voted wrong in my own darn poll.

I am still undecided but I'm thinking I will probably be among the guinea pigs. I started to trade for a 6.4 but decided to wait for a while because mine has been such a great truck.

Thumbs up

My next SuperDuty will be a 2011 model year. However, I am not sure of the new gaser BOSS engine with lots of hp, but only marginal torque numbers right now. Will have to wait for those final numbers.

With that said, YES a FORD 6.7L PSD is definitely exciting! Just reading all the technology into this engine gets me PUMPED! The best part is the extra fuel tank for the regen cycle. So that the mpg will actually be for mpg and not mpg/regen like the 6.4L PSD.

I voted YES...with the only thing changing my mind are the BOSS final hp/torque figures.

I think you have some false information there.

The extra "fuel tank" contains the DEF/urea for the SCR system, it has nothing to do with regenerating the DPF.
The 6.7 may need less "regens" than the 6.4 but its still going to use some diesel fuel to accomplish those.

I got one of the first 6.4's around my neck of the woods. No reason for me to not get the 6.7 except I won't be looking for another 4 years or so.

I voted undecided but truthfully If I was really in the market then I would go ahead and get it. Not being in the market right now it would have to have some really impressive numbers to get to buy.

I voted yes, but I can't get one since I'm only 16 I'll have to keep my 02 F-250 with the 5.4L but theres nothing wrong with that.

I stand corrected. Appreciate the clarification...

I voted yes, even though I won't really be in the market. Unless the fickle finger of fate does something to my current truck. I also will want to wait and see the upcharge for the motor.

Wow. Remember all the hype about the 6.4 because my 6.0 is garbage. LOL....Remember how tested the 6.4 was and all the problems. My 6.0 has had HG's 2 times as of last week in 68k(2007 F-350). I am ready to get rid of mine. I am that disgusted with my 6.0 BUT I will NOT BY A FIRST MODEL YEAR MOTOR EVER!

Well, since you asked, no I don't remember that. The 6.4 has been very solid from the beginning.

I am not trying to get in a pissing match with you. I did a lot of reading when the 6.4 came out. I could post link after link of how great it was supposed to be. This thing was supposed to be the cats ***. That being said, I never said that the 6.4 was great. Remember all the problems when it came out. I have a ton of guys just like me that have 7.3's, 6.0's and 6.4's. The only ones that are cutting it are the 7.3's. The 6.4 is just as bad and if not worse than the 6.0. My point was simple, I would never buy a first year motor. I want to see the motor in the real world instead of believing all the hype. I am still a Ford fan all the way. If the 6.7 is good, I will buy one in 2011. I just don't want to be the guinea pig.
