I blew compressed air up the gas line at the fitting at the cab floor and "fixed" the clog. The pump seems very effective mounted to the frame rail within about 8 inches of that fitting.
Unfortunately now my carb's float doesn't float. I have a feeling I'm going to be sorting out this truck for a long time.
Larry, don't get discouraged, probably just a piece of crud that dislodged and messing with a float,needle/seat,or fuel passage.I would bite the bullet, pull the tank.Take it to a good radiator shop, have it cleaned out, maybe seal it.I once bought a rebuilt carb after dealing with rust clogging issues, only to have this problem on the new rebuilt one.I cleaned the tank, had to clean and regasket my reman'd carb ,and had no further problems.
ibuzzard, you inspired me to give it another shot. A small adjustment to the flap near the float hinge pushed the needle a little higher and solved my problem! Thanks. I'm afraid you're probably right about the gas tank.
Yes, a filter came with the Mr. Gasket pump. It screws right into the input. I think I'll move my clear filter in front of that one for easier diagnosis and replacement.
