Scan tools

hey all im looking for a scan tool that will work on my 96/97 7.3 auto and my wife 02 mustang. ive seen a few but not sure if they will work on my diesel. i want to be able to do a live sensor check with koer test and freeze along with code pulling im wanting to spend only 75-120. ive seen a nice one at harbor frieght that does all that but not sure of diesel capable. ive had good luck with all the other hb tools so dont start bashing them but im open to all suggestions thanks

Unfortunately, I don't think you can get one that is applicable to our trucks and the mustang... Especially for the price you want... If thats what you really want. Look into an AE with a ford package. That will allow you to do both vehicles.

Consider the Autotap scanner. Works with a laptop. It scanned a Saab and 96 Mercedes diesel with great success. Have not used it yet on my 97 F250 diesel.

Here's their link, You would need to purchase the Ford Enhanced package to get the Diesel benefits for our trucks. But not cheap...I like mine, has saved me time with a recent CPS failure, and in my opinion I would rather be able to troubleshoot than throw parts at my truck.

Sorry to show my ignorance, but I have an OBD-2 scan tool. Will this work on my 97 F-250 powerstroke? It's a $100 job from Wally world but it works great on my other vehicles.

No, but only because Ford used their own proprietary codes for the diesels. You will need an AE, Snap-On or the like.
