Ok I know this is a pretty basic question but here goes. I have a '76 F250 with a 460/ C6 donated by a 1970 Lincoln. I had the stock Dove C heads off and spent many hours porting and polishing, installed a mild (for this engine) cam from comp, .513/.513 lift, Weiand intake, Holley 750 dp, roller tip rockers, MSD ignition. Truck also has almost new dual exhaust with Flowmasters but stock manifolds. I figure it's gotta be about 400 hp right now.
So I am now pondering headers. I found they are expensive and not widely available but they can be found. How much horsepower/ torque gain can I expect? Is it worth it?

I don't think of 460 headers as hard to find. Summit, JBG, Jegs, and most every other place has them. You have all that engine work done and you're balking at the price of headers? It'd be a mistake not to put headers on that engine in my opinion.
my plan is to run Headmans elite 3/8 flange headers on my 460. you got a lot of intake (750 dp and aluminum intake), and not a lot of room to get it all out. def. should look into it....
Ok so I found three manufacturers who make headers for a 460 in a hiboy. Cheapest is about $550.00, plus delivery. I am now trying to pry the money out of my wallet but still the questions. People have told me some downsides ie they always leak in a 4x4 plus extra heat in the engine bay plus I've been told that there really isn't much of a gain in performance...
I would say to do it. Worth it in my opinion to go with the extra upgrades as stated by Edgethis and 76Hauler. Of course you are not going to notice much of a difference if you just upgrade one thing at a time because it gradually increases performance; whereas, if you were to upgrade a lot of these at once, then you are able to notice a performance difference. It's not a must, but I would say to do it. Just my .02
I highly recommend installing headers in order to maximize what you have already done. I installed a set on my rig (given to me boxed and uninstalled by the PO) and it really woke it up with very noticeable power gains. How much exactly I don't know but from the seat of the pants it accelerates and is torquier than before.
I agree with all the others,,, since you have this much time and $$ into it so far,,, and I will add my .02 get the header wrap from summit,,,, it REALLY drops the underhood temps,,, put it on prior to installation! But yeah,, go for it!
