Last year I bought a 1999 E-150 for work. Now that I have had the van for a while I feel the need to customize. It's got a flame job two seats and white walls(hot rod material for the sick minded). I plan on lowering just for fun with air bags in the rear to carry stuff. As far as the 4.2L v6 goes? It's reliable, but can you squeeze any more power out of it? Intake and programmer? Thanks for reading
You might already know this already -- in Ford Forum there is a section for engines and mods, which has a lot of info on this: CAI, headers, turbo, S/C, exhaust, chips, cams, etc etc. Very interesting reads and ideas...
There is a response -- the moderator on that forum tells you "buy a V8". Apparently people have tried and have not gotten far. I would believe him.
For more research, check the other forums "Performance" "Chips, Tuners", "Intakes" "Exhaust" "SChargers, Turbos". Run searches for "4.2" to get the relevant threads. Good luck.
I drove a company 1997 6 cyl E150 for a year, while I was in NYC It never needed anything and was reliable as could be.
I would leave it as is and maybe put a muffler on for some sound.
