After market running boards

I have a '06 Supercrew and I'm looking to replace my factory chrome tubular running boards with some quality after market ones...factory ones are starting to rust. I would like them to looks as close to the factory ones as possible. Anyone have and recommendations on some quality chrome after market running boards?

Westin, Lund, DeeZee are some names that come to mind. Most any truck accessory place and parts store caries them. Personally, I'm going to replace my 06 factory chrome step tubes with black platform style soon. If necessary, I'll get them from Ford.

The running boards I have on my truck are factory aluminum tubes. I like the way they fit the truck and look more at home than aftermarket brands which can sometimes stick out like a sore thumb. Not sure what a dealer would charge for these since I bought my truck previously enjoyed. Likely they would be a bit more spendy than aftermarket.

i bought these NASTA steps 2 years ago. everything is stainless and won't rust. also the tube ends are smoothed over and sealed so water and salt can't get in and ruin the tubes from the inside out.

On a related topic ...

Anyone know who supplies Ford with their side steps / boards ?

In particular the Super Cab 5" chrome tubular running boards. *i.e. STX.

Reason for asking: Need to replace the pads and thru FoMoCo they're only sold with the steps / boards. Thought being that possibly just the pads are available from the supplier.

I do not know for sure, but it may be Westin. I would go to an aftermarket supplier and get the names of every aftermarket supplier that they can give you and begin to e-mail each one to see if they supply Ford. I know from personal experience that unless you have an inside contact at Ford in the purchasing department, you probably won't get a good answer on who suppliers are for anything. They will say it's confidential. But you may get some feedback from the suppliers or an aftermarket supplier/installer.

Check at runningboardwarehouse.com , there are several that look like the OEM types. I was looking into them but changed my mind. I'm getting the n-fab steps instead of the OEM type because of the higher weight rating (456 lbs, vs OEM 300 lbs) and the "enclosed" steps will help prevent side slipping when wet, I think.

I did look at the AMP power steps too. They are very nice, but I'd have to sell a kidney to buy them. I'll just have to go "tacky". No offense "Oldtimer". Us here in Alabamy cain't afford them thar high-falutin' Californy prices!

No offense taken...I busted out laughing when I read your reply!!

They are pricy. I spent 2 grand for the Amps and a 2" leveling kit (installed) when my "04" was new.

C'mon...ya got two kidneys...just stop drinkin "shine" and you could probably afford to lose one...!! YOU, TOO...!!! can be high-falutin"...!!!

We drove thru Alabamy about five years ago on our way back to Californy from Florida...nice part of our country.

I know I've got two, but why mess with the original layout? I might need the backup! Now we've gone and hijacked the thread!
