just got back from local court house. They suggested applying for a rebuild title because the vin on the frame is different from the one on the door. Just need original receipts of work or parts bought for truck, send a crapload of paperwork to state, and hopefully they will approve a rebuild title.
Gonna start the ball rolling and keep on trying to contact PO too. I'll try to post a pic or two of my truck.
The PO or PPO might have changed the door since they may of had the same title problem?
Its the safe route to go, you would not want to loose the truck in some BS door/title swapping deal.
It you can contact the PO its like $12.00 to apply for a lost title in my state, except the actual owner has to submit the paperwork. But he sounds like a shady character anyway.

2. 77 Highboy or 77.5 lowboy?
3. D60 or D44 front axle ( it should have a D60 rear)
4. A/C ?
5. Duel tanks?
6. Factory motor? Been rebuilt?
7. Auto or 4 spd?
8. Depends where you are located.
9. Body work rust repair or new panels?
10. Glass was good or all replaced?
11. Divorced or married xfer case, NP 203 or NP 205 (the answer to #2 will tell me this)
12 Axles been rebuilt?
13. Restored to OEM spec matvching #'s or has aftermarket mods?
12. Custom, Ranger, XLT what model/trim package and what factory options?
13. ...................and on and on and on.........
That's a few things I consider when I am looking at buying a Ford truck, why ya got a lead on one?

ya well 77&79 f250 my uncle re did the truck and he worjs at a ford dealer is a highboy and he put a 351m in it its also the xlt and it has dual d60 he put em both in and he put all new suspension and everything aroungit on the chasis so its pretty much brand new with 500 miles on the engine and rebuilt none of that is mudding and the body is all original outa texas clean title and he has it in hand i just dont know if i can get something better than that for 3 g's
