no not all the time just every now and then. I mean i havent been very hard on the tranny since rebuild the hardest ive been on it was hauling about 35,000 pounds of hay but i only had to haul it about ten mile and never got above 45mph and tranny never got hot.
I was thinking that if you were towing with that setting you could of already of toasted your TC, unless your tranny is built like a son of a gun. Wow 35,000lbs of hay!
I was thinking that was a lot of power to be running all the time especially towing. I don't think any average jo could build one of these trannys to hold that much. Wow 35,000lbs of hay, thats like hauling a D6LGP.
I run in my "+250" tune all the time. Why should I not? And I don't have a "-100" tune to get to stock power levels...
I think the whole "always start in stock" thing is a myth. How do you "start in stock" if you run big injectors?? Mine never leaves my hottest tune, but I drive like gramps until the oil temps are over 150-170 deg.
I'm still new at this so take what I say as a grain of salt. Just kinda learning from my experiences and what others have posted! I just couldn't see myself trying to tow with hot tunes for fear of toasting my tranney! I agree with you izzy! It was just the towing I was thinking about. And bigbubba it's just my fears maybe not facts!
I just talked to Brian and he told me what all to check. Most of you were right the valve body has nothing to do with the tc lockup.I can't really do to much to the truck untill I get home next week.
For the record, I rarely tow, and if I do I can run "stock" (which is probably like my hottest tune before injectors), or Heavy Tow, which is a really nice tune from Tony. I like how the TC & trans works in that tune...
But to the OP, glad you had a chance to talk to Brian. What are you planning to do now?
I'm going to work on it when I get home I'm going to ground the torque convertor lockup wire to ensure that it is working, then if it is properly working. I'm going to go to were I used to work and hook it up to a scanner and look to see what the comp is telling the tc to do

I can. I wouldn't care about toasting my trans. Mine will be upgraded and warrantied all for the price of shipping.

Please tell me you have a way to tow the thing home because that builder is trying to screw you left, right, up, down, center and sideways.
Or you could take it to Brian since you are in MO. He'd install it for free.

Unless Brian tells you to do that for a test, I wouldn't add any more variables. If you add 5 mods and something goes wrong, what do you do? If you add one mod and something goes wrong, you have a very good starting point.
