My Trannsmission needs a new valve body. Which one is better John woods or Bts the guy at the tranny shop said he would put a Bts on it. He said a Bts is around $550 and I looked up John woods and it is $225 from riff raff I don't really have a lot of money. So which one do you all think is better thanks Justin
The bts I put on a previous truck was only $225. Call and get a price. I doubt its $550. Maybe without a core. By the way why do you think your valve body is bad.? I can't see them going bad unless it gets plugged and if there's that much junk in the fluid to plug it you may have bigger problems
The valve body is stock and the tranny is built. And the valve body will not hold up to the upgrades with the rest of the tranny. Will a Bts valve body hold up to a built tranny?
So im just guessing its just shifting to soft? Well bts builds some of the strongest 4r100s in the country so yes his valve bodys are just as good as his trannys

Your transmission guy isn't being completely honest with you. "Hold up" is what he is doing to you!
He could incorporate all the mods of one of the popular valve bodies for under a hundred dollars if he was forthright with you.
This is just his way of extracting extra bucks from you.
Ask him if he's ever heard of a Sonnax Sure-Cure kit, or a Transgo Tugger kit.
Both are just a few slightly different things that go into the existing valve body and pump.
Sheesh!
I suspect this is just his way out of providing a warranty for you, and nothing more.
Sorry you're having to deal with someone less-than-upright, but it's what you get when you don't properly educate yourself about these things first!
Silly question here. Who build the tranny? I ask because I cannot fathom buying a built tranny that didn't have valve body upgrades already. I may be wrong, but if you buy a JW or BTS transmission, the valve body will have been modified already. Just curious. And with my limited knowledge on the subject, how can you hurt a valvebody?

$550??? Does he swallow too? BTS is $225 and he charges $100 for a core, IIRC and you should get that back. For that price, I would expect that he would install it and fluid too.
The torque convertor was jumping in and out of lock up and the shop said the valve body was not able to handle the rest of the upgrades to the tranny
Im no trans expert by any means but a valve body and torque converter are not related. I could be completely wrong though. Did he put on an upgraded converter? Sounds like your tc is going bad. Has nothing to do with the valve body. The valve body controls the firmness and quickness of the shifts not the tc lockup
this totally cracked me up. I was thinking "did he at least give you a courtesy reach around?"

I did not know that the 550 was with a core charge. And idk anything about trannies this is just Wat the guy said. So anything you guys can tell me is new to me. I was just told that the valve body was bad
Here is an idea so crazy it might actually work. Before you spend any more money, why not give Brian a call at 870-422-3673? He does have a lot of calls so it might be best for you to hold for him. Ask him what he thinks. He had a chance to sell me a $1000 TC and talked me out so I doubt he would try to shoehorn you into something you don't need. If the thing is going south, no VB will help.
In any case, RUN LIKE HELL from this trans shop. Make sure that if you drop the soap, you don't pick it up. I will send you a new bar if you want.
