2011 seat height
In reality I'm wrong in what I call it. Because they are all moonroofs seein that nobody really makes a sunroof anymore except for corvettes and other random cars...but in my opinion that are called targa tops. In the older days a sunroof was a panel in the roof that only allowed sun in when opened but ford actually created the term called moonroof and the difference is that a moonroof allows light in all the time whether open or closed.
"sunroof" is the term originally used to describe a metal panel that would only allow light or air in when opened. A "moonroof," on the other hand, is a glass panel that can allow light in even when it is closed (provided, of course, you slide back that nifty fabric-covered panel to expose the glass).
True sunroofs, those made just of metal, appear to have gone the way of 8-tracks in automobiles, and these days, most "sunroofs" are really "moonroofs" -- panels of tempered glass, usually tinted, that tilt up to allow a flow of air, or slide back into the roof entirely, giving the car occupants a brief but tantalizing glimpse of life in a convertible
When I test drove the F350 I drove one without a moonroof and never once thought about the height in one with it. My truck with a moonroof is due at the dealer this week and last night I had a dream that I couldn't sit upright when I got in it!! Actually it was more like I was in it but couldn't get OUT of it! I kept telling my family to exhale so I could squeeze out. Do you think all of this is related to that truck payment headed my way?

Wonder if a dealer ever had someone who backed out of a deal for this reason?
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Well, I couldn’t take it anymore. Not knowing whether this behemoth I call me was going to fit or not, I decided to check the situation out first hand. I took a drive to one of the dealers in the area that I did not drive nuts and asked to sit in a F350 with a moon roof, sun roof or whatever you call the ones with the hole in the roof. I told the salesman that I was researching the claim that trucks with a moon roof had lower head clearance. As I climbed into the cab, a strange sound echoed in my head -- “Houston, we have a problem…”
It was clear with the seat all the way down and back, I had a 720Deere moment -- “my hair, what's left of it sometimes touched the headliner unless I slouch down in the seat”. I didn’t have a lot of time to experiment with seat settings (the poor sales guy was standing there in 15 degree weather with the wind howling at 20 to 30 mph) but it was evident, at best, I might have 1 inch clearance. I did take a closer look at the headliner and did notice as rollerstud98 pointed out; the airbag is contributing quite a bit to the clearance issue on the left side.
I calculated my upper torso to be roughly 38 inches, half of my overall height. The good news in all this is that I am about 40 pounds overweight. I figure I got about an inch of excess height in the gluteus area that I can work on.
What was the most upsetting was that every GM pickup I drove by I could clearly see the top of their heads – with room to spare.

See thats my biggest complaint with the chevys is that either the seats sit too low or the dash is too high...either way I feel like the dash is overwhelming becuase its too high....its been like this ever since they changed their bodystyle in 99.
Depending on how the seat is adjusted, having the shade open gives you a few more inches of clearance.
