S...s...Score! Went yardin' yesterday and I couldn't bare to see these scrapped so I went ahead and bought a very nice pair of West Coast mirrors off a 70 Camper Special (RIP) !... all three arms, brackets, and 90% of the stainless steel hardware. The mirror heads have beaded backs and "FoMoCo" on the back. Sa...weeeet.
The bummer is I have no vehicle to put them on... I just might have to go forward with another dentside project. Hmmm... how about a 2WD crewcab dually? Gonna have to fabricate my own crewcab to exempt myself from CA's draconian emissions tests (CA titles the cab and not the frame, generally).
I love the logic there... "Hmm, got new mirrors so I need something to put them on...Honey!" Good luck trying to explain that one to the wife!
And good luck trying to get the rest of the project!
It's my kind of logic!!! I'm not married so I only have myself to explain things to.... I usually win!!

I went to the Richmond Pick N Pull... was going to the PnP in Fairfield but it got late in the day and I was getting tired. FYI.. There's a 76 or so dentside with a brushbar/pushbar. Non-factory but it looked salvageable. The bumpside I got the mirrors off of also had an unbent dock bumper
Was at the Stockton PnP last summer on my way to Mustangs Plus... got a cherry passenger side air vent door. They've got more trucks but tend to be picked clean.
i didnt know there was anything special about these, i have them on my old doors
Nothing special. I believe they were more common on the Camper Special and Trailer Special packages.
And there probably a lot more of them came into contact with road signs or other hard fixed objects.............just ask my wife how far the west coast mirrors stick out.
Good score! I know of a lot of guys that search for these, they are extremely rare at all, let alone looking that good, it seems.
I've never seen any, so now its nice to know what west coast mirrors are.-- I Had seen these before but not called that--uggliest mirrors ever IMO, BUT there are times with a trailer where I would have killed for a set! Now i also understand the 4 million holes/riv-nuts that are in my f150 doors.... think those got enough brackets??
They'e not the prettiest to me either but hey, they're hard to come by and perhaps I can part with them if the price is right. Atlernatively, I've been pondering lilbigrig.com... check it out. I like the aero-looking, mini-Kenworth.
My shortbed rig (2WD cab on 4x4 frame) had them telling by, like you, the gazillion holes in the doors but had the typical swing-aways by the time I got it. These things are a maze of brackets and arms. According to numberdummy, the "Junior" WC mirrors don't have the third arm going to the leading edge of the door and have smaller mirror heads.
My brother bought a clean 69 Bumpside (2wd, LB, 360FE, C6) and had a helluva time finding a pair. His PO was using a tiny, 3-inch peep mirror on the upper door but his rig had the riv-nuts and holes ready to go. He finally found a set on CL.
I hate my West Coast mirrors. Can't wait to take them off. They looked okay when I still had a camper shell and cab lights but now they just look like big ears sticking out.
