I know 86 and up f350s came with a solid axle d60. What other trucks came with solid axles? I don't care if they are d60 or not just if they are not IFS.
Also did they ever offer a solid axle on a f250 or lower?
all f150's before 1980 had d44 solid axles same with 250's and 350's but some were d60's and some were d44's 1979 and older broncos are also all solid axle d44's. f150's and bronco's are coil sprung, except f150 supercabs. they had a solid d44, but it was leaf sprung. all f250's and 350's are leaf sprung from when they first started making them all the way till 2005. 2005 and newer super duty's are coil sprung solid axles. 1999 and up s/d trucks are all solid axles as well.
nope. leaf springs and d60's started in 1985.5 so some 85's have d60 fronts and some are ttb. the leafs ride a hell of a lot better on a lifted truck if you make or buy a shackle reversal for them (move the swing shackle to the rear of the front springs)
Another option for you is to but any 80-96 F-250 and then find a D60 out of an 86 and up F-350 and it's pretty much a direct bolt on. The F-250's seem to be a bit easier to find a decent truck and then make it a solid axle. I have a 94 F-250 and swapped in a D60 out of a 95 F-350. It was a really easy swap.
One more way for you to go would be an 80-96 F-150 and swap in a D44 out of a 70's pickup or 78-79 bronco. Then you would have the solid axle.
The F-250 D60 swap is the easiest, but the D44 swap into the F-150 isnt really all that bad either. Just another couple options for you.
which is the right way to go about it in my opinion.
if you start out with something that isn't what you wanted it will take you way the **** more time, money, and effort to get it to fit the bill of what you wanted.
some folks will make due and accept it, but its better if you get what you want in the beginning, and modify that to suit your needs.
