Secondary Fuel filter

For those that will be performing some of their own service on their trucks, I offer he following excerpt from a Motorcraft handout, (on the off chance the parts guy doesn't mention it)...

"6.7 engines have a secondary fuel filter located on he top of he left valve cover. The secondary fuel filter is a 4-micron cartridge style filter and is replaced as a complete unit.
The secondary fuel filter that is equipped on the vehicle from the factory has three ports. The third port is used during the assembly process.
The service part will only have two ports: the inlet from the DFCM and the exit to the high-pressure fuel pump."

For those wondering what that 3rd port was actually used for, KTP needed to improve cycle time during the initial fuel fill. This 3rd port allowed venting of the low pressure fuel systems trapped air from the tank to the secondary filter.
