Well I have what i think to be a simple question. When the truck is unlocked with the key fob are the interior lights supposed to turn on? The lights on my running boards do but that is about it. I know the lights work because the light when any door os opened so I am curious if a relay stopped working or if it is just the way it was designed. Oh and are the headlights/taillights supposed to blink because I don't have that happen either. It is a 2001 Limited. Thanks.
Well that sucks. Now that I think about it the horn will honk if I hit the button twice but that is it. Guess I need to add it to the list of things to fix. Does anyone know if there is a relay that may have gone bad or what it might be?
has someone fitted a switch into you interior lighting circuit ,to stop the drain on the battery when stopped.
I know there is a thread somewhere , one i wanted to follow that turned off the interior light when the door opened , as my batteried died after a camping trip , what with the loading , unloading for an hour , EX dead , turn the lights off (and there are about 12 of them) EX lives.
i'll try to find it for you. should be in my fav's somewhere
I appreciate the help but I think I have figured it out. The previous owner had an alarm system at some point and I think when it was installed some wires were cut. I have 3 wires in the engine compartment on the upper fire wall by the brake booster that have been removed from the harness and been taped off.
The thing that still gets me though is the running board lights go on and off with the remote and the horn honks when lock is pressed twice so who knows what was really done when the alarm was installed. I guess I will just have to deal with it for now because with Christmas in the way the budget really doesn't allow for fixing this right now. Maybe after the New Year I will just cheat and tap a relay into the running board lights and send power back to the interior lights. The joys of purchasing a used vehicle.
