I would also recommend a synthetic Mercon V product over the SP. I don't know why the SP wouldn't work, but I am usually conservative on fluids and filters.

I think V may also be better, V has a thicker viscosity than sp and lv
I drive it to get the old oil warm, I do not jack up truck to it is level, remove both plugs. Drink beer to give it time to drain. I found a hose that will screw into the fluid bottle that is perfect. I run it to the top fill hole there will be about a pint left. I drive it in 4x4 for a few hours, then check the level again, I find that it is about a pint low
