plumb it though your heater core lines. i say yes on worth while installing. gives you a good idea on whats floating around your system and keeps it out of your water pump a second time. they have paper thread on type filters, also have clear site glass filters. thats the rout id go and plan on going. its on my list as well

Don't know if you can get the housing from an IH version and fit it on these Fords because if other things in the way. Not really worth doing other then because.. They were originally installed on engines so SCA could easily be put in the coolant system because to get your additives mixed in right in your coolant you should drain some out and mix it up and pour it back in. Kind of a pain. There really isn't anything to filter.

I use them on all my equipment including my IDI and you will be surprised on whats really floating around in a clean looking system. I do not use precharged filters on anything I actually use basic oil style filters with universal mounting brackets inline of the heater core.

ill probaly start off with an uncharged filter because i use the Wixcool additive in my antifreeze already. i might just say f it and do it, just put a new rad in it, and soon to replace the heater core.
