Voltage Gauge Replacement OEM cluster

I have a cluster with a voltage gauge that seems to jump, but does not sweep. I am sure the battery and altenator are in good shape. Does anyone have any expierence in swapping just the gauge from cluster to cluster? I have a cluster with a tach so I want to keep it, but it has the bad voltage gauge. I want to swap in the voltage gauge from a cluster without a tach.

The guages just pop out after you remove the plastic cover. You dont even need to remove the housing. Problem is though, the guages from a non tach cluster are larger.

I have a spare voltage gauge that I purchased for my '92 F350. Turns out the no reading issue I was having was caused by the connector on the back of the cluster was ready to fall out.

I am reasonably sure the gauge is for a cluster w/tachometer. I can check if you are interested in it.

rla2005....Let me take a little better look at it tomorrow and check connectors and such.

If the gauge motor is the same size shouldn't I be able to just swap the needle?
