My 78 F150 had the dummy lights for the oil and the altenator. I found a late 70's F150 at the junk yard that had the oil and ammeter gauges. I pulled the gauge cluster and the wiring harness. My old cluster had a different sized "plug" for the back of the gauge cluster. So I traced the circuit board on the back of my old gauge cluster and I traced the circuit board on the new gauge cluster and I rewired the plug that I had pulled from the junk yard truck.
Since my old gauge cluster only had the lights and the new gauge cluster has the gauges, the wiring for that area is different. What do I need to add or change to make the Oil and Ammeter gauges work correctly? I'm guessing a new sending unit for the oil, but I'm not sure what the Ammeter gauge needs. Also will my altenator continue to charge with that gauge disconnected?
